An hour and fifteen minute drive east of Quito through a section of the Andean Highlands reminiscent of Scotland brings one to Papallacta, Ecuador - a place of outdoor pools brimming with natural thermal waters beneath green volcanic peaks and towering snow capped Antisana volcano. Papallacta’s gardens could easily stand as an attraction on their own, but landscaped around a seemingly endless network of outdoor thermal pools, intimately interlaced with the hotel’s architecture, they result in an environment unlike any other when it comes to both awakening and soothing the senses. The first thing you will want to do is wonder through the gardens and marvel at the seemingly endless supply pouring out of pottery earns into the pools. The grounds are extensive. There are pools in Papallacta's hotel section, the spa and public area of pools beside the springs lively creek.

There are pools right outside your cabins and you are free to roam and explore each one as you relax your way along. Sometimes the skies clear to reveal spectacular views of nearby Antisana Volcano towering over Papallacta springs. Spa treatments are very reasonably priced and are best ordered from a menu prior to arrival, though you may also arrange these on the spot. The hotel, spa and public area all offer top notch restaurants providing the freshest of ingredients (try the fresh fruit juices) used to create both local and international dishes.

Papallacta has 2 areas where guests can stay overnight: The hotel and the private cabins.

Papallacta's hotel has 32 rooms, each with heating and a private bathroom.  The rooms are situated next to the thermal pools for exclusive use of guests. The hotel restaurant offers delicious Ecuadorian and international cuisine using ingredients from their own organic kitchen garden.

Termas de Papallacta houses 13 one and two storey cabins, which are located right next to the hotel..  The cabins are warm and cozy, each with an individual fireplace in the living room.

The thermal pools situated right beside the cabins are for the exclusive use of cabin guests.  These cabins are ideal for families or couples who desire their own social space.

Besides the beautiful and relaxing hot springs, Papallacta offers its own nature reserve that follows a very lively creek. You can hire a guide to take you on a hike deep into a reserve up the valley along the creek and into the mountains above. The creek offers outlooks where you can enjoy waterfalls while looking for the reserve’s wildlife. The reserve also offers countless small lakes where trout fishing is very popular. After a hike up Papallacta Reserve, you can return to the Spa which offers some inner secrets and amazing treatments. You can visit an indoor grotto where steaming spring water passes over a large natural stone to create an amazing steam bath with a cold water shower to help you cool down. The water has amazing properties, is odorless and is easy on your skin acting as a softener. There is even a water massage treatment of try the stone or Andean mud treatments.
