Galapagos + A Tour of The Amazon Jungle

Ecuador offers some of the finest lodges and habitat found anywhere in the Amazon basin. These lodges are run by friendly staff known for great service and food. Though deep in the rainforest, accommodations are comfortable and designed with amenities including private bathrooms, hot showers and electricity. You can enjoy naturalist-guided rain forest hikes, canoe trips and bird watching on canopy walks. Meeting the native families of this wilderness is an experience to treasure.

Few will argue that combining an expedition to the Amazonian headwaters with a cruise of the Galapagos is simply the best nature safari in the western hemisphere, and of course you can visit the Amazon either before or after your trip to the Galapagos Islands. You can also combine the Amazon with our Andean highland visits.

Today we will take different paths to explore the forest which may be divided in the same area between flooded forest (in which case we will use dugout canoes) and dry forest. Hopefully we will encounter shy indigenous inhabitants harvesting cassava from their tiny parcels amongst giant trees and thick vegetation. At night we may enjoy another night walk through the forest (B, L, D)
