Daphne Island - Galapagos

Official Name: Daphne Island (Major and Minor)
English Name: Daphne Island
Visitor Sites:
None - only dive sites
Area:
1.9 sq. miles (4.9 sq km)
Max altitude: 123 feet (38 meters)
Approximate Age: 1.8 million years old

Geology: The entire island is a large tuff cone
Vegetation: Small thorny plants

Daphne Minor, a tuff cone (giant pile of compressed volcanic ash shaked like a cone), sits off the north coast of Santa Cruz Island, west of Baltra Island and North Seymour Island. There are no visitor sites on Daphne Minor or Daphne Major islands to be vistied on a Galapagos cruise as it is almost impossible to disembark here. The islands only offer visitors some nice dive sites.
