It has always been the mission of Quasar Expeditions to preserve the ecosystem of the Galapagos and to counterbalance man’s impact on its environment. The size of our vessels allows our guests to travel the Islands and leave them virtually intact. We have invested in technologies that minimize the impact of the presence of man over nature. These initiatives follow the highest standards of international environmental protection and reinforce our commitment to protect our wildlife to ensure their survival. We strongly believe that proactive efforts to protect the environment do make a difference that will be noticed and appreciated by future generations of responsible travelers. This philosophy is applied in all our destinations and is reflected in our active participation of conservation projects and support for several environmental organizations.
SUPPORTING CONSERVATION PROJECTS
Quasar Expeditions is a permanent supporter and member of the Charles Darwin Foundation that works to preserve the Islands and its endangered species through research and knowledge gathered and distributed to Scientific community. We are also members and supporters of Fundacion Natura, a non profit organization in Ecuador which actively works with the World Wildlife Fund, to identify and solve the environmental problems faced by the Galapagos and other National Parks of Ecuador. Fundacion Galapagos is yet another organization of which Quasar Expeditions is a member and an active supporter. This foundation is involved in the recycling of the waste produced by the tourism Industry and the population of Galapagos. Several projects are being executed such as recycling glass bottles to produce tiles for use in the Islands. Cardboard, paper, plastic, burnt oils and all other materials that cannot yet be recycled in the Islands are all sent back to the continent to avoid an impact on the fragile eco-system of the Galapagos. Ever since this practice was adopted, Quasar Expeditions funded the transportation of this waste back to the mainland.
